The Universal Sound Beyond Boundaries

The Universal Sound Beyond Boundaries

Udgeeth Pranayama (Pranava Pranayama)

What is Udgeeth Pranayama?

Pranayama is the practice of regulating our breath to balance our life energy (Prana).

Among its many forms, "Udgeeth Pranayama" is the simplest and most powerful. Udgeeth means chanting, and Pranava means the sacred sound "Om". You simply inhale deeply through the nose and exhale slowly while chanting "Om" in a long, continuous tone - A-O-M.

Science confirms that words have frequency and power. The chanting of Om vibrates at 432 Hz, the frequency of nature itself. This vibration calms the nervous system, releases anxiety, improves breathing, enhances focus, and brings deep inner peace. It heals us physically, mentally, and spiritually in just a few minutes a day.

Many people see "Om" as only a Hindu Jaap or Vird. But in truth, Om is not a religious based chanting or jaap. It is the primordial sound of the universe, the sound of creation itself. Like air, water, and sunlight, it belongs to all of humanity.

The Islamic Perspective on the Universal Sound

This is the most important point to understand - we must not limit universal energy within religious boundaries.

As Muslims, we believe in "Tauheed"  there is only One Supreme Creator, the Almighty Allah, who created this entire universe. He is the same Supreme Power that other faiths call Eshwar, God, or Waheguru etc. The paths and names are different, but the Creator is One.

So, what is Om from an Islamic point of view?

1. Om as the Sound of Allah's Universe:

The Quran says that everything in the heavens and earth glorifies Allah. The entire universe is in a state of Zikr. The sound "Om" is understood by many as that original, cosmic Zikr - the hum of the universe remembering its Creator. It is not a name of a deity; it is the sound of existence itself, which ultimately belongs to Allah.

2. Om as a Form of Zikr and Muraqaba:

For a Muslim, chanting can become a powerful form of remembrance. When we chant Om with the intention of Allah, the vibration in the chest is the same as when we do "Allah Hoo" in Sufi Zikr. In Tasawwuf, Sufi saints have always used deep breathing and rhythmic sounds to reach a state of Fana and connect with Allah. Udgeeth Pranayama is very close to this practice of Dam and inner Muraqaba.

3. A Personal Connection: Allah and Muhammad (PBUH):

As a Muslim, I personally connect to this sound in my own way to keep my faith intact. For me, this universal sound encompasses my entire Deen. The deep, vast sound of 'O' reminds me of the vastness and greatness of Allah, the Supreme Lord of the worlds. And the concluding, peaceful sound of 'M' brings to my heart the love and peace of our beloved Prophet "Muhammad" (Peace Be Upon Him). So for me, Om becomes an abbreviation of my love for Allah and His Messenger. When the intention (Niyyah) is pure and for Allah, the benefit of the universal energy reaches you without compromising your faith.

Islam never forbids us from benefiting from what Allah has placed in nature. Medicine, science, breathing, sound - these are all Allah's creations. The Prophet (PBUH) encouraged us to seek healing. If a natural frequency created by Allah can heal our anxiety, lower our stress, and make us a calmer and better Momin, then why should we reject it because of a linguistic misunderstanding?

Don’t see it as someone else’s chant. See it as Allah’s frequency, given to all His creation to heal.

How to Practice

1.  Sit with a straight spine and closed eyes.

2.  Inhale deeply through your nose.

3.  Exhale slowly while chanting "Om" in one long tone. Feel the vibration in your chest and head.

4.  Repeat 5-11 times daily.

Let the Universe Heal Everyone Equally

This is the message we must spread: "The universe does not discriminate, and neither should its healing tools."

Allah did not create peace only for one group, or fresh air only for one religion. He is Rab-ul-Alameen - the Lord of all the worlds. His mercy, His healing, and His energies are for everyone, everywhere, every day.

When we put religious labels on universal phenomena like breath, sound, and energy, we ourselves lose out. We deprive ourselves of tremendous powers that Allah has kept open for all of us. A Muslim should not fear Om, and a Hindu should not fear the word Allah - because both are trying to reach the same One Supreme Power through the vibration of love.

Udgeeth Pranayama teaches us the greatest lesson of Tauheed - that behind all the different sounds, all the different names, and all the different ways of worship, there is one single vibration, one single energy, one single Creator connecting us all.

So, breathe beyond boundaries. Heal beyond labels. Let every soul, whether it says Allah, God, Eshwar or Waheguru, benefit equally from the beautiful healing symphony of this universe. That is what the Creator truly wants.

"The sound is universal. The healing is universal. The Creator is One"
